All throughout November, I hosted a #bethankfulfor challenge, and I created a page a day. Well almost every day…I missed one! You can see mine in the gallery – just click on “THANKFUL” above the pics to sort just the November entries. You can see what others created in our Facebook group or HERE on instagram.

What if I just can’t draw?

There’s lots of talent shared among our community. However – we have lots of new people looking in…..a common woe that I hear in the face of lots of beautiful and profound art is: “But…I just can’t draw. Can I Bible journal if I just can’t draw a thing?”

You know I’m going to say “Of course!” But not on my own authority. On God’s:

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place, when I wa woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139:14-16

Your heavenly Father made you. He knit you together in your mother’s womb. He knows the calling He planted in you – and He’s given you desires that HE wants you to have. Has God given you the desire to create art? He doesn’t make people who are not capable of doing what He has asked of them. It may take time, practice, and training – but you are capable!

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  Ephesians 2:10

“Handiwork” is sometimes translated as “masterpiece” too – does that sound like someone who can’t create art? He also gave you gifts. He planned for you to do good works! He’s prepared them. He knows the art that is inside you, and He’ll walk with you through your learning process.

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

And yes. He is the one who will give you strength, courage, and ability. He’s already given you desire or you wouldn’t be here reading this! Note in the art at the top of this post – it’s a *stick figure.* Yep. Stick figures are perfectly fine to use! It’s all about what the picture is SAYING, not how fancy it is!

Coming in December:

In December, I’ll be sharing tutorials on YouTube that will be backgrounds that require no real drawing skill – it’ll be an Advent series with the themes of Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace….and all while Bible journaling Christmas hymns. Be sure to tune in and work alongside me. Get your workbook out and try out some of the ideas shown – you can do this. I have faith in God to work mightily through you!

Merry Christmas,
Sandy
